An established relationship story.
Written: April 2009. Word count: 300.
As he strode along the corridor his mind returned to what he'd done; to the double betrayal.
He'd cheated on Ducky. He'd cheated on the man he loved above life itself. The man who'd stood by him throughout everything. The man who'd loved him even when he hadn't liked himself.
He'd cheated on him. That's what he'd done. It didn't matter that it was just a kiss. It didn't matter that -
Nothing mattered. He'd cheated on Ducky. But then he'd always told him, told everyone, he was a bastard.
But it wasn't just Ducky he'd cheated on. He'd cheated on Fornell too. He'd cheated on their friendship. He'd used his second oldest and closest friend, and had done so without thought to what he was doing
It wouldn't even have mattered who'd been in the elevator with him, McGee, Abby, Ziva, Jenny, Palmer, DiNozzo, he'd have kissed any of them. Kissing Fornell had at least been easier than kissing some of the others would have been. But he'd have done it. Because whoever he'd kissed the effect would have been the same.
And the fact it didn't matter who it would have been made the double betrayal even worse.
He'd cheated on his lover and he hadn't given a damn who it was with.
He'd cheated on his friend and it hadn't meant anything. He hadn't kissed Fornell because he was Fornell, because he'd wanted to kiss him. He'd kissed Fornell because he'd been there. He hadn't known how Fornell had felt about him, but even if he had, he'd still have kissed him.
God he'd done some things in his time, but this - This took some beating. Even by his standards.
But it didn't matter.
Nothing mattered.
He'd always told them he was a bastard
Now he'd proved it.
