It was a usual assignment: undercover as a gay couple.
They argued with Cowley; said they couldn't do it. Wouldn't do it.
He didn't listen to their objections. He never did.
So they went to the club.
Held hands.
Kissed.
Danced.
Cuddled.
Acted the part.
Played their roles.
Did their job.
Fulfilled their unusual assignment.
Caught the bad guys.
Then they went back to their flats.
Prepared to forget all about it. Pretend it never happened.
The next night they dated two birds. They didn't fuck them.
Instead, they went back to Bodie's flat and made love to one another.
