COWLEY'S MEMORIES

By

Darby Brennan

Cowley remembers his boys.

An established relationship story.

Warning: Major character death.

Written: November 2007. Word count: 100.

He thought his memories of them would fade. Like his memories of the other men and women he had known, cared about, and lost, had faded.

They didn't.

He thought they were just two of his agents, two of his boys. His top team, but still just two of his staff.

They weren't.

He thought his grief over their deaths, their untimely, far too early, unnecessary deaths, would go.

It didn't.

He thought he'd start to remember how much they'd annoyed him, how they'd played by their rules more often than by his.

He didn't.

Instead he remembered the love.
