A PROUD MAN

By

Darby Brennan

Bodie is a proud man.

An established relationship story.

Written: October 2007. Word count: 100.

At first his pride had been severely dented by a mere ex-copper out-shooting him with handguns.

He told himself it didn't matter. He was better with rifles.

He told himself it was a one-off. Next time he'd be the best.

He wasn't.

He told himself he didn't care. What was Ray Doyle to him, anyway?

At the inter-departmental shooting match he stood urging Ray on.

When Ray's five bullets hit the target dead centre, Bodie was the proudest man present.

Ray had done it.

Later, alone in their flat, Bodie showed his lover exactly how proud he was of him.
