He's late.

It isn't his fault.

An accident delayed him.

He wishes it had delayed him for longer.

He stands and stares down into the hole.

He doesn't know what to think. What to feel. His emotions are too raw.

The biting, cutting, raw wind whips around him.

He welcomes it. At least it's real. At least it makes him feel something.

He can't believe it happened. He can't believe he's gone.

He'd always believed he'd have a chance.

They'd have a chance.

A chance to start again.

He was wrong.

He doubts he'll ever know what to feel again.
