When sunrise comes he has to leave her side.

When sunrise comes he has to let her go.

Sunrise heralds the beginning of the time he cannot be with her.

Loving her as he does, being loved by her as he is, it hurts.

If had the choice, there is nothing he would not do for her.

But this is one choice he does not have.

This is one boundary he cannot cross.

This is one monster he cannot fight.

When sunrise comes he has to leave her side.

Has to watch her walk out into the light.

Has to watch her walk out into the day.

Has to watch her walk out into the world. Her world.

Loving her as he does, he would be with her if he could.

But he cannot.

Instead he slips away to wait.

He slips away to wait until dusk falling lifts the boundary keeping him from her side.

Maybe if he did not love her so much, he would let her always live in the light.

Maybe if he loved her enough, he would let her always live in the light.

But loving her as he does, he cannot let her go.
