MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
By
Ashleigh Anpilova
Kate knows there is more to Gibbs and Ducky's relationship and tries to figure out what it was.
An established relationship story.
Written: July 2008. Word count: 300.
From the moment she first met them she knew there was more to them than met the eye.
At first when she discovered that Gibbs being an ME's assistant had merely been a façade, she thought it was just that.
Later she realized there was something else.
There was a spark between them; an electrical charge. It was always there whenever they interacted; sometimes it was so intense the air sizzled around them. There was definitely more to them than she had first thought.
So she used her profiling skills and tried to work them out.
She watched them together; saw the way the looked at one another; listened to the way they spoke to one another, to the tone of their voices as well as to the words; saw how for them 'personal space' didn't exist. And she knew. She knew what made the air sizzle.
She knew the true nature of their relationship.
And once she knew she wondered why everyone else didn't; they were so blatant about it. But she was certain Tony and Abby didn't know; they hadn't seen what, to her eyes, was so clear.
She knew something else too: Gibbs had figured out that she knew. She could tell that by the way he looked at her, the way he watched her.
She kept expecting him to say something to her, even if only indirectly, or to treat her differently. But he didn't. She didn't know if that worried her or not, but that was Gibbs; he liked to keep you guessing.
She guessed he wasn't that worried by her knowing, because nothing changed in the way he and Ducky interacted, there was no lessening of intensity, the air was still charged. They were still as they'd always been.
So she stopped worrying too.
