The day I decided there couldn't be a God, was the day they brought me the news about Shannon and Kelly.
As I sat, gun in hand, trying to come to terms with it, trying to pluck up the courage to kill myself, I knew no God would have taken two such good people away.
Later, I told myself that maybe there was a God, and He was punishing me for daring to love two people at the same time.
Later still I told myself that lack of God or not, I was fortunate in that I still had Ducky.
Being Thankful is the companion piece to this story.
