Tim reassesses his feeling for Jimmy.

A first time story.

Written: September 2010. Word count: 500.

It was after Jimmy risked his life to stop a criminal from escaping that Tim realized his feelings for Jimmy went beyond those of just a coworker.

He didn't do anything about it. Instead he told himself he didn't really feel that way; he'd just been concerned, like the others, for Jimmy's safety. He told himself Jimmy wouldn't be interested in him anyway; he had Michelle.

When Michelle died in the line of duty, Tim realized the feelings he had for Jimmy hadn't changed. They were still beyond those of a coworker.

Again he didn't do anything about it. He told himself it was too soon after Michelle's death; it wouldn't be fair to Jimmy. But he told himself he wouldn't wait too long; he would tell Jimmy. He would tell him and deal with whatever Jimmy said or did.

Then Jimmy began to date Breena and Tim realized there was no way Jimmy would look at him. Thus, he resolved himself to say nothing.

Then came the day Jimmy tripped and fell down the stairs.

"Jimmy!" Tim cried, taking the stairs three at time. He fell to his knees by Jimmy's side. Jimmy's eyes were closed and Tim was sure his neck was at an odd angle. Trained, like all agents, in basic first aid, Tim felt for Jimmy's pulse and breathed a sigh of relief when he found it.

"Ow." Jimmy opened his eyes and gazed up at Tim. "What happened?" he began to move.

Tim put his hand on Jimmy's chest. "Don't move," he ordered. "You may be badly hurt."

Jimmy grinned at him. "I'm not," he said. "Just a few bruises." He began to sit up.

Again Tim stopped him. He realized Jimmy could have died (people had died after falling down stairs) without knowing how Tim felt. "Jimmy," he said firmly. "There's something I have to tell you."

"Can't it wait until I get up?"

Tim shook his head. If he waited, he wouldn't say anything and he couldn't go longer without telling Jimmy. "No. You see, Jimmy, it's like this. I . . . You see, it all began when you crashed your car into . . . I knew then, but I didn't say anything. I didn't know how to. But I want you to know now."

"Know what, Tim?"

"That I . . . That I . . . That I don't want to be without you. I want to be with you."

Jimmy frowned a little. "With me?"

Tim felt simultaneously hot and cold. "Yes. You probably don't . . . I mean why would you when you have Breena?"

"I split up with Breena a few weeks ago."

"You did?" Tim didn't even try to hide how pleased he was.

Jimmy ran his tongue over his lips. "Yeah," he said.

Tim stared down at Jimmy. He should say something, but he didn't know what. So instead he leaned over and kissed Jimmy. "Is this okay?" he asked, after a moment or two.

"Oh, yes," Jimmy replied, before pulling Tim's head back down and kissing him.
