Kate has a secret.
A Kate centric gen story.
Written: March 2010. Word count: 300.
"Gibbs, what did Ducky look like when he was younger?
"Illya Kuryakin."
At the time, Gibbs's answer hadn't meant anything to her. However, once Ducky had been rescued, Kate Googled the name. She'd told herself she'd only spend a minute or two finding out who Illya was. However, once she started reading about him and his partner Napoleon Solo and 'U.N.C.L.E.', she'd found herself, to her surprise and embarrassment, hooked and wanting to learn more, and to see them in action.
More Googling led her to discover a few videos had been released and somewhat guiltily she purchased one. By the time she'd watched the two episodes, she knew she had to see more. After watching them all twice, she bemoaned the fact that more hadn't been released.
She kept the videos in a box in her spare room. It made life a little more difficult when she wanted to watch them (which was quite often) but it also meant no one could discover them and her little obsession 'accidentally'.
It was Tony who, after Kate's death, offered to clear out her apartment and ship her belongings to her parents; Gibbs agreed. Abby said she'd meet and help him.
He deliberately arrived before Abby and let himself in. A quick glance around told him which room was the spare room.
Five minutes later he found the box. He'd never let Kate know, had never teased her about it, but he'd known about her 'little obsession'. He'd also known that she wouldn't have wanted anyone else, not even Abby, to know about it.
He took the box and put it in the trunk of his car. He'd take it home and put it with his Magnum collection. "I'll keep your secret, Katie," he whispered, as he closed and locked the trunk.
