She sat in her lab looking around at all the presents her coworkers, her family, had bought her.
There amongst the black roses, the black stuffed toys, the silver jewelry, sat a cupcake with a candle in it. It was small but perfectly formed.
She'd told Tim the night before she didn't want a cake.
He hadn't believed her.
She was pleased he hadn't.
He was coming back down soon to see her.
They would light the candle then.
She could blow it out.
And she would wish.
She would wish for a lifetime of love and happiness with Tim.
