He would always swear it wasn't what he'd planned.

 

That it had been an accident.

 

That desire had overcome them.

 

His plan had been to talk.

 

To explain.

 

To try to make sense of what had happened.

 

But something had gone wrong.

 

Benny had opened the door and, at that very second, Ray had slipped.

 

Slipped and fallen.

 

Slipped and fallen into Benny's arms.

 

Hours later he was still in Benny's arms, in Benny's bed.

 

They hadn't talked.

 

There seemed no need.

 

Maybe this was a better plan.

 

Maybe this was the right way.

 

He had to imagine it was.
